Dig-up survey and ultrasonic wall thickness measurement on a flowline
01 · NDT

Ultrasonic Testing (UT)

Ultrasonic testing (UT) comprises a range of non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques that send ultrasonic waves through an object or material. These high-frequency sound waves are transmitted into materials to characterize the material or detect flaws. Most UT inspection uses short pulse waves with frequencies ranging from 0.1–15 MHz, although frequencies up to 50 MHz can be used.

One common application is ultrasonic thickness measurement, used to ascertain the thickness of an object such as when assessing pipework corrosion. Other applications include corrosion mapping and flaw detection in welds. We further increase the coverage of inspected areas by performing dig-up surveys, where excavation is carried out at distance intervals along the flowline/pipeline and robust ultrasonic wall-thickness measurements are taken.

Cathodic protection monitoring at a well site
02 · Corrosion Prevention

Cathodic Protection Monitoring, Installation & Remedial Works

Cathodic protection monitoring involves regular inspections performed by pipeline operators to take measurements at rectifiers and cathodic protection test points along a pipeline. It is a corrosion-prevention method used on buried pipelines.

It involves the use of equipment, sensors and alarms to detect changes in pipeline chemical composition or leaks, by making the pipeline a cathode of an electrochemical cell — along with the installation and remedial works needed to keep the system performing.

Long Range Ultrasonic Testing (Guided Wave)

We deploy Eddyfi guided-wave ultrasonic testing technology, developed for detecting metal loss in pipe, aimed at testing large volumes of material from a single test point.

Its application covers detecting corrosion under insulation in petrochemical plant pipework, and situations where pipes or tubes are not accessible — for example where they are buried, encased in a sleeve, or elevated above the ground.

Pulsed eddy current inspection equipment on a buried pipeline
04 · Electromagnetic Inspection

Pulsed Eddy Current (PEC)

Pulsed eddy current, or PEC, is an advanced electromagnetic inspection technology used in detecting flaws and corrosion in ferrous materials typically hidden under layers of coating, fireproofing or insulation. It allows wall-thickness measurement when the probe is not in direct contact with the surface to be inspected.

We carry out PEC inspection on insulated or buried flowlines, pipelines and pressure vessels to identify corroded spots, scabs and corrosion under insulation — used where it is not cost-effective to remove insulation or decoat. We use Eddyfi technologies products which provide faster, higher-quality data acquisition and presentation.

Pipeline coating condition survey and repair works
05 · Coating Integrity

Coating Condition Survey & Repair

A coating condition survey is the foundation of a successful protective coating system, and preparation for regular maintenance and inspection of structural and coating failures.

We carry out visual assessment, standardized testing and analysis to identify poor coating or painting areas that require remedial works, followed by the repair itself.

Phased array ultrasonic testing device in the field

Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT)

Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT), also known as phased array UT, is an advanced non-destructive inspection technique widely used for the in-service detection and characterization of corrosion in pipes, tanks, vessels and other critical assets. A larger probe footprint covers more surface at higher speed, reducing inspection time while enhancing resolution.

PAUT can perform any job done by conventional ultrasonics, and is used across a wide range of inspection and measurement applications — ideal for non-invasive material examination, finding flaws in welds, assessing rivet quality, and detecting cracks, voids and pits caused by corrosion. The technology measures material and coating thickness, detects changes in material properties, and inspects joints and interfaces.

Physicochemical & compositional analysis of reservoir fluid samples

Fluid Sampling

A comprehensive understanding of reservoir fluids and their associated properties is the cornerstone of successfully operating any producing asset.

Accurate measurement of reservoir fluid composition and physical properties, and understanding the undesirable inorganic elements and compounds present in reservoir fluid at trace levels, is a critical requirement for safe, efficient completion and process plant design.
